Puttu With Steamed Bananas...

Puttu is one of the South Indian recipes for Breakfast. Most of the times Puttu is served with Hot curry and i like it with sugar and steamed bananas. Puttu most of the time made with grounded Ragi. Rice puttu is also one of the varieties. This is very simple dish to make, how ever you need a separate utensils made for this.

Ingredients:
5 Kerala bananas.
1 Cup of Puttu powder [mix of Ragi and Rice powder available in supermarkets]
1 Cup of grated Coconut
1/4 cup of water.

Preparation Method:
Step 1: Place the bananas in a perforated utensil and steam cook them fro about 15 - 20 mins.

Step 2: Add water little by little to the Puttu flour and keep mixing it, till it looks like below. flour should be wet DO NOT ADD MORE WATER and make it like batter.

Step 3: Now in the Puttu maker, stack a small layer of grated coconut and big layer puttu flour. A normal sized puttu maker can hold three such layers. Make sure you have enough water in the water pot for steaming.

Step 4: Simple way to know the Puttu is cooked is you will see steam escaping out of the top holes. Once you see the steam take out the puttu and carefully place it in serving bowl.

Puttu served hot with chickpeas curry or with steam banana are excellent combination. Cook it and enjoy the taste of puttu. i know few of my fried like to eat puttu with Milk and sugar too.

Only way to explain the taste is cook and have it. Happy Cooking!!!
